Our plans

We have secured a beautiful location for the new Fair Havens Hospice. Set in 3.5 acres within an area enriched by history and nature, the site in Prittlewell means we can create a purpose-built hospice designed purely around the requirements of those who need our care. There are six main elements to the new hospice.

  • Outside space is a vital element of hospice care for relaxation, enjoyment or for times of quiet contemplation, perhaps after a loved one has died.
  • The In-Patient Unit will provide accommodation for patients who need overnight care to help manage their symptoms or medication, or as the end of their life approaches.
  • The Wellbeing Centre is a place that focuses on activities and support that helps keep patients living well and independently with their illness for longer.
  • Community Hospice Services are about taking our services out to patients in their own neighbourhood and into their homes.
  • Family Support and Chaplaincy focus on providing emotional support and spiritual care.
  • There will be office facilities for the support administration that allows these care services to be delivered.

"I remember well the excitement on the day that Fair Havens opened in June 1983. To see the culmination of the vision that we knew was from God was awe inspiring.

"As the years went on, other services were developed until Fair Havens was able to offer people the choice of where they would choose to die and excellent services to enable them to have that choice. Care of the families has always been paramount importance and this is an integral part of all that has been offered.

"The Trustees have had the need for additional In Patient beds presented to them and have investigated the need carefully. Their bold step to provide a new purpose-built buding with more modern facilities will enable more people to be cared for by Fair Havens for many years to come.

"How exciting the future will be. I will continue to pray for all that God wants to do at Fair Havens."
